October 9-13, 2024, Gyumri, Armenia.
International Psychoanalytic Conference
Supported by Eastern Europe Committee of the International New Groups Committee (ING) of the IPA and “Arevamanuk” foundation
Through the year, the members of the International Psychoanalytic Association – both graduates and members in the programs run at the European Psychoanalytic Institute (successor to the Han Groen-Prakken Psychoanalytic Institute for Eastern Europe) worked together to create a professional community. • Members of the International Psychoanalytic Association from different cities and countries will present their theoretical speeches discussion.
  • The conference participants may submit clinical material in groups both in Russian and in English, as well as they could do it at individual supervisions.
  • A special part of the conference will be the founding meeting of the Integration Psychoanalytic Community, on the further development and creation of the IPA working group.
  • The IPA members and candidates, as well as those interested in study psychoanalysis, will take part in this conference.
We invite you to join the international psychoanalytic conference “LIFE AFTER A BREAKUP. FRAGMENTATION OR INTEGRATION”, which is to be held in the city of Gyumri, Armenia (October 9 – October 13).

We, graduates of the Institute, are experiencing another difficult breakup in our professional progress path – the shutdown of the Han Groen-Prakken European Psychoanalytic Institute in 2023. That was a natural and an inevitable process of maturation, which, under the current conditions, cannot but reflect the complex social processes underway in Eastern Europe. Wars, as a consequence of interethnic and other conflicts, create breakups in professional links, gaps in the lives of both psychoanalysts and their patients. All this facilitates potential fragmentation of perception and, consequently, possible fragmentation of our professional community. Fragmented perception prevents a person and society as a whole from building real relationships with themselves and with the world.

Dear colleagues from the organizing committee, dear fellow psychoanalysts, candidates and psychotherapists from Eastern and Western Europe,

The International New Groups Committee of the International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) commends your efforts to stay connected and continue working so productively after the closure of EPI. We fully support the approaching conference “LIFE AFTER A BREAKUP. FRAGMENTATION OR INTEGRATION”, which will be held in Armenia during October 2024. It is a title that resonates on many levels.

We believe that the efforts of the conference organizers are extremely important at this time of uncertainty, suffering and chaos in Eastern Europe. It is a sign of the unification that IPA psychoanalysis provides.
On behalf of ING Committee, including the Committee for Eastern Europe, and of course on my own behalf, we all wish you a successful and fruitful professional meeting.
Warm regards
Dr. Svetlozar Vassilev
Chair of the EEC of IPA (ING)

Venue - ALEXANDROVSKI
The conference will be held in the center of Gyumri, the second largest city in Armenia. The Aleksandrovski restaurant will become a place for classes, and coffee breaks and a welcome cocktail will be organized there.
Transfer
There is an international airport in Gyumri, from which it is quite easy to get to the city center by taxi, we recommend using the YandexGO application, it accepts all cards and cash. Taking a taxi “on the spot” can be very expensive and uncomfortable. Make sure you have the application on your phone.
Most likely, your flight will be to Yerevan; the airport in Yerevan serves a lot of flights from different countries. The road from Yerevan to Gyumri by car takes 2 hours and costs about 50 euros. In this case, also, use the YandexGO or GG application directly from the airport. For convenience and economy, we will create a chat in telegram so that conference participants can easily find colleagues or a colleague who will arrive at a similar time, so that in a pleasant company, by taxi, you can get to Gyumri.
You can also get to Gyumri from Yerevan by electric train and bus. Contact representatives of the local organizing committee if you need further details.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Breakfast is included in the price of the SHIRAZ hotel.
A welcome cocktail will be organized in the large hall on the territory of the ALEXANDROVSKI restaurant, where, in the future, the conference will be held.
During the breaks, an area with coffee breaks will be organized on the territory of the ALEXANDROVSKI restaurant complex.
Participants organize lunches and dinners themselves. The city center is quite small, so finding a place where you can get tasty food is not difficult.
The gala dinner will be organized at the Cherkezi Dzor fish restaurant. Participation in the gala dinner is paid separately - 40 euros. Please indicate on the registration form that you would like to participate in the gala dinner.
